Ouya CAO Julie Uhrman said the company’s strategy will be similar to a mobile strategy, which means new consoles should appear on a regular basis.
"There will be a new OUYA every year. There will be an OUYA 2 and an OUYA 3," she added. "We'll take advantage of faster, better processors, take advantage of prices falling. So if we can get more than 8GB of Flash in our box, we will."
However, early adopters need not worry. Their consoles will not be rendered obsolete very quickly and Uhrman says all games will be backward compatible.
The Ouya is based on the fastest iteration of Nvidia’s Tegra 3 SoC, so the choice for the next generation console might be the Tegra 4, but let’s not forget Qualcomm and possibly even Samsung, as they have plenty of competitive chips to offer.
