Two weeks ago, we reported that Google would finally be rolling out official Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich updates to its own Nexus S and Nexus S 4G smartphones sometime "within the next few weeks."

Citing sources close to Engadget for verification, it appears that the company has only remained half-loyal to its already ridiculously fragmented userbase. As of today, Google has released Android 4.0.4 Ice Cream Sandwich updates for two 3G-capable Nexus phones -  the Samsung Galaxy Nexus (I9250, 3G HSPA+ model) and the Google Nexus S (I9020, 3G GSM model). But alas, there is still zero support for Verizon 4G LTE customers on the Google Nexus S 4G as it appears that Verizon has an entirely different schedule for its own devices, completely independent of Google's authority.

Nevertheless, it comes as no surprise that Google actually released Android 4.0 updates for Nexus S 3G devices back in December, and then quietly attempted to pull them, citing that it was "likely the result of Google pausing the updates in your areas while we monitor feedback."
