The New Zealand High Court has found that the court order used for seizing MegaUpload's assets was invalid.
It turned out that the police applied for a foreign restraining order, rather than the appropriate interim restraining order. The mistake has since been corrected.
While there is a slim chance of MegaUpload's assets being returned, it's still a long shot and the defense would have to prove that the error was in bad faith.
