Dell has announced the first Blu-Ray playback capable notebook that will be sold for under $1,000, or to be more precise, US$879. The Inspiron 1525 also comes with an HDMI port so it can be easily connected to any high-res HDTV.
This notebook comes with a 15.4-inch HD display that can display 720p content. Other specs include a wide choice of Intel Core 2 processors, up to 4GB of DDR2 667 memory, up to 250GB of hard drive capacity, Intel's GMA x3100 integrated graphics and a Blu-Ray player, which can also play and burn normal DVDs and CDs.
The notebook can be upgraded with the Blu-ray DL burner, but that will add an additional $480 to the price. It is already available in U.S., Canada and Europe, and you customize yours at Dell's online store.
