Gang members arrested thanks to Facebook, general stupidity
Kids, don’t brag about your murders online
New York’s finest arrested 43 gang members on Thursday, in connection with three murder investigations.
Identifying the suspects was relatively easy, since they thought that bragging about their crimes on Twitter and Facebook was a good idea.
"By linking their postings and boastings to active cases and other crimes, these officers were able to build their case," said New York Police Commissioner Raymond Kelly.
So much for traditional police work, stakeouts and donuts. Technology and stupidity seem to have conspired to make life a bit easier for law enforcement.
The suspects, aged 15 to 21, are members of two gangs which terrorized Brooklyn and were responsible for several shootings, which resulted in the death of three people and wounding of several innocent bystanders, including a 9-year-old boy and his father.
