Netbook sales are continuing to plummet, as it appears that consumers are shifting towards tablets. However, tablets are not included in PC shipment figures. As for proper PCs, Europeans and Americans don’t seem too eager to upgrade, but consumers in Asia and Latin America are a different story. Sales in India, China and parts of Latin America grew by up to 10 percent.
Sales in the EMEA region dropped by 4.8 percent, which is hardly surprising considering ongoing economic woes in Europe and instability in the Middle East.
As for vendors, with 22.9 percent growth Lenovo has something to smile about. The outfit managed to overtake Acer for the third spot in overall PC shipments. HP and Dell are still leading the market, but Lenovo is closing the gap quickly.
