Fabless semiconductor outfit Tabula has just scored $108 million in Series D funding which will help to speed up production of their 3PLD ABAX product. The cash has come from various investors who seem keen to invest in the technology.
Dennis Segers, CEO of Tabula said that the programmable logic market is seeing tremendous growth driven by the expansion of telecommunications infrastructure. This infrastructure build is necessary to keep pace with the global demand for more bandwidth to support smartphone usage for accessing data and video online, he said. He thinks that the world plus dog wants to move to Spacetime 3D programmable logic technology.
The outfit is one of the first to push 3D programmable logic devices. Tabula recently completed the roll-out of its 40nm ABAX family of 3PLDs supported by the Stylus development software.
