Beancounters at IMS Research are projecting that Android based tablets will seize 15.2 percent of the market in 2011 and t hey could eventually get to a 28.4 percent share in 2015.
However, Apple’s iPad still reigns supreme and only upcoming Gingerbread tablets will stand a chance of offering a similar feature set and superior hardware at competitive prices. One positive development for the Android crowd is the unexpected success of Samsung’s Galaxy Tab. Depending on who you ask, Samsung has managed to flog between 600,000 and 700,000 units since the launch.
Mind you, the success of the Galaxy Tab is somewhat surprising, as it is ridiculously overpriced and we even dare say that in certain SKUs the iPad actually might offer better value for money.
