Gigabyte is also working on a low-cost notebook similar to Asustek's Eee PC. We already wrote about Acer's rumored plans to introduce an Eee-esque notebook later this year, here.
The new notebook should have a 7 to 9-inch screen and it will be based on Intel's Basic platform. Gigabyte VP Richard Ma told Digitimes that the company will produce the low-cost notebook itself and that the company's notebook division will turn profitable in 2008. Gigabyte is planning to unveil its Menlow-based MID and UMPC designs in April.
The low-cost notebook market seems to be getting rather crowded these days, and consumers will hopefully reap the benefits of these latest developments.
