Lahore High Court in Pakistan has banned nine websites including Google, Yahoo and Hotmail, MSN, YouTube, Bing and Amazon, saying that they all post blasphemous materials. The court ordered Pakistan Telecommunication Authority (PTA) to block nine websites as earliest as possible.
The ban is thanks to a bloke called Muhammed Sidiq who filed a petition in the court accusing that these websites were publishing sacrilegious materials and twisting facts about quran which are harmful to Islam community. He had sought for banning these online sites, in the petition.
Justice Mazher Iqbal Sidhu issued the order banning these websites. He has also ordered the PTA Chairman to be present before court on Jun 28, with relevant materials.
Facebook was been blocked by Pakistan in May for holding blasphemous materials. The access to the sites were later restored.
