Microsoft has released a new official Windows Media Player plug-in for Firefox 2.0.

The move, which is part of Microsoft's bid to get in with the Open Source Community, enables Windows Media Player to work with Firefox for Windows Vista.

According to a company blog, the plug-in, available on Firefox's add-on site, is compatible with the 32-bit and 64-bit versions of the XP SP2 and Vista.

It is also backwards compatible with Windows Media Player version 6.4 and supports Windows OCX scripting interfaces.
Early attempts by Microsoft to get a plug-in going for Firefox proved buggy.
