TiVo, Inc. and RealNetworks are expected to announce an agreement that will give TiVo subscribers the ability to listen to music from the Rhapsody digital music service on their televisions.
Both TiVo and Rhapsody services normally cost about US$13 each per month, but TiVo subscribers will receive a free one-month trial of Rhapsody. TiVo users can access the service by searching for music directly on their television and see the listings of music available by artist and/or music title as well as listen to thousands of available radio channels through their television.
This is another feather in TiVo’s cap, as it adds another feature to their DVR to allow users to play songs from their personal collection over their television, in addition to providing purchases of films from e-tailer Amazon.com for viewing on their television that same day.
Financial terms of the deal between TiVo and RealNetworks were not disclosed.
