Following the announcement of the 40GB Playstation 3 in Europe, Sony Computer Entertainment America or SCEA is getting ready to announce the same for North America.
According to the various analysts, Sony will introduce a $399 version before Thanksgiving so it could battle the all mighty Nintendo and the slightly less mighty Microsoft during the holiday season. According to the report in The Hollywood Reporter the $399 PS3 will hit retail shelves on November 2nd.
Sony will surely add the new model, but whether or not the 80GB version will get a price tag of $499 instead of the current $599 is still unknown. The new model should be the same as the European one, so expect two USB ports, lack of card reader and no backwards compatibility.
