Microsoft has sued companies and individuals it claims sold deeply discounted Windows and Office software intended for students.
The company claims that eBusZone.com, LCTech, Intrax Group, Global Online
Distribution and Big Boy Distribution of Florida infringed on Microsoft's
copyright by importing and distributing versions of Windows and Office that
were not meant to be sold through retailers.
A spokesman for Intrax said that it bought software from legitimate sources in
the US and was selling it as academic software, that it may require a separate
license.
A spokesman for Global Online Distribution, said his company has never sold the
discounted students-only software. Microsoft claims that a handful of
companies, including one in Jordan and one in Latvia, were sources for the
discounted Student Media software
