Seagate has released its largest hard drive yet, a 32TB model built on the long-awaited heat-assisted magnetic recording (HAMR) technology. The drive is based on Seagate’s advanced Mozaic 3+ platform.

Seagate has officially announced its newest Exos 14 HDD at the OCP summit, a helium filled 14TB HDD aimed at the enterprise market, which uses new MACH.2 Multi Actuator and HAMR technologies, allowing it to hit a record 480MB/s sustained throughput.
Seagate focuses on TDMR, SMR and HAMR for 12TB and higher drives
12TB drives later this year, 18TB next year
According to senior executives familiar with Seagate’s research and development plans, the company plans to fine-tune the next three years of its HDD developments using shingled magnetic recording (SMR), two-dimensional magnetic recording (TDMR), and heat-assisted magnetic recording (HAMR).
