The boss of the outfit named after a Roman vengeance demon, Nvidia CEO Jensen Huang took to the stage at GTC to unveil some GPU-powered innovations for machine learning, including a new AI supercomputer and an updated version of the company's  Tesla V100 GPU that now has  32GB of onboard HBM2 memory.

No plans to make an actual product

The tech press became rather excited last week when Intel started showing off a new GPU with some even claiming it would change the industry.  It turns out that Intel has no real interest in changing the industry for now.

Crypto demand

We shouldn't  be surprised, but  GPU sales have skyrocketed over the last few quarters. Our colleagues from the press have criticized AMD for Radeon Vega, but AMD sold every single one. Once the market sucked all Radeons, it went for Geforce GTX 1060, 1070, 1080 so pretty much anything that can mine well.

Several confirmations

Without pointing any fingers and naming any names, Fudzilla had confirmation that Raja Koduri's successor to run the graphics side of the business will come from outside of AMD.

Way too early for that

Sorry to disappoint AMD fans but the new_chip.gfx10.mmSUPER_SECRET.enable [0: 0] is not Navi, as that is unlikely to show in 2018.

Ampere and the gaming GPU

There have been many reports that Nvidia’s next generation technology will be codenamed Ampere and we want to set one thing straight. The successor of Volta is an AI/ML chip and not a GPU - just like Volta never was.

AMD and Nvidia game market share

Overall GPU shipments increased 9.3 percent from last quarter, AMD increased eight percent, Nvidia rose 30 pe cent and Intel, increased by five percent, according to figures from Jon Peddie Research.

They are supposed to be for workstations
