The news that GlobalFoundries is walking away from 7nm manufacturing brought a lot of uncertainty to AMD’s roadmap and Mark Papermaster the CTO of the company has just posted a blog comforting investors and assuring customers that both CPU and GPU designs at 7nm are in safe hands at TSMC.

Lack of competition dictates

Qualcomm just sent out the official press release saying it has started sampling its next generation mobile platform for consumers in 7nm. This 7nm platform can be paired with Snapdragon X50 5G modem creating the first 5G capable mobile platform for premium tier smartphones and other mobile devices.

It will be extremely hard and almost impossible for AMD to stay relevant in performance and high end gaming. With the introduction of Geforce Turing based 20 series RTX cards, Nvidia is putting in place a hard to reach distance between AMD Radeon graphics and Geforce. When we say Nvidia will rule high end in 2019, we of course mean the rest of 2018 too.
