Notebook and desktop demand picked up

The maker of expensive printer ink HP reported better than expected quarterly revenue and raised its full year profit forecast thanks to strong demand for its notebooks and desktops.

A US court has decided that the former chief financial officer of British software company Autonomy committed wire fraud and other crimes by inflating the outfit's value before its sale to HP.

The Chromebook x2 with 12.3-inch screen and US $599.99 price tag

HP has decided there is a market for a Chrome OS-based tablet and has announced its own US $599.99-priced "detachable" tablet running on Intel's 7th generation m3-series CPU and powering that Google OS on a 12.3-inch QHD resolution IPS screen, the Chromebook X2.

Demand could be high as HP is selling all it makes

It appears that people like the idea behind HP's Envy X2 "detachable PC" with Snapdragon 835 SoC as although it is now once again available, HP seems to be selling out as soon as it puts some online.

Demand for Windows 10 always-connected PC might be real

Although many had their doubts regarding Snapdragon powered always connected notebooks/tablets, it appears that there is quite a demand as it appears that HP's Envy X2 has sold out in a matter of hours.

Ten new carriers signed too

Qualcomm has managed to get industry heavyweights Amazon and JD.com to start selling its Windows 10 on Snapdragon 835 devices. Microsoft will carry the devices in its retail stores too. At the same time, it locked down 10 world carriers to announce the data plans for such devices.

Figures all up

The maker of expensive printer ink which is more costly than gold reported first-quarter revenue and profit on Thursday above Wall Street estimates as it sold more personal computers and printers, helping the company raise its full-year profit forecast.

Intel, Dell, HP, Lenovo, and Microsoft have plans

Intel and its PC sums are already thinking about rolling out 5G-equipped PCs late in 2019.

Including the first 4K/UHD EliteDisplay

In addition to new EliteBook 800 G5 series notebooks and ZBook 14u/15u G5 mobile workstations, HP has also unveiled a couple of 4K/UHD monitors, including both the first 4K/UHD EliteDisplay series monitor and a Z-series 4K/UHD 43-inch monitor.

With 1.07TFLOPs AMD Radeon Pro WX 3100 

In addition to its new Elitebook 800 G5 series, HP has also announced the new ZBook 14u/15u G5 mobile workstation series which has had quite a few updates, including AMD's discrete Radeon Pro WX 3100 GPU.
