So far, Computex 2009 seems to be flooded
with Intel P55 chipset motherboards from every direction. Thankfully, some
members of the press were able to get some coverage of the 'other' upcoming
chipsets that are yet to be released in the Ibex Peak platform.
Hexus.net took a walk over to Shuttle’s
booth and found an early prototype motherboard based on the H57 chipset, which
sports the Flexible Display Interface, a single PCI-Express 2.0 x8 slot,
and Intel’s new Turbo Memory technology which it calls Braidwood.
Shuttle’s prototype board also features four dual-channel DDR3 slots, and
three SATA II 3.0GB/s ports as there will be no
SATA III for Ibex Peak unfortunately. The board also comes equipped with an
NVRAM slot that will likely be used for Braidwood memory caching technology.
This should be a great feature for those running an operating system on a Solid
State Disk, as the technology can provide up to 16GB of onboard cache for fast boot
up times.
