UMi has unveiled its latest smartphone, the UMi Plus E, which features a 5.5-inch FHD screen and will be one of the first available smartphones with Mediatek's Helio P20 octa-core chipset.

Increasing production of 28nm chips

Earlier this week, MediaTek reported a net profit growth of 19 percent during the third quarter of 2016, but now expects revenue momentum to slow down in the fourth quarter as it ramps up production capacity of 28nm chips.

LG Stylo with Helio P10

MediaTek has announced that it has just launched its first MediaTek powered smartphone on the Verizon wireless network. The phone is manufactured by LG, is called Stylo 2V and it is the first-ever MediaTek-powered CDMA/LTE smartphone by Verizon Wireless. This is a big win for the Taiwanese company that will open many doors for the company. 

Up to 10 percent improvement over Helio P10

According to a report coming from China, MediaTek has released its new Helio P15 chipset, an upgrade to the quite popular Helio P10 chipset.

Leaning on the next big thing

Now that the Chinese smartphone market has become saturated, telco makers are trying to jump through all the hoops the Indian government is setting up so they can set up shop there.

MediaTek has started making rather unique chips and its strategy was even followed by some of its competition. Helio X20 / X25 was the world’s first deca-core SoC that did a decent job, but Helio X30 again packs deca-core with an impressive alignment.

According to a recent Chinese language report, Amazon is expected to begin buying chips from MediaTek for the production of its second-generation smart home device, the Echo Dot.

Faster version of 16nm Helio P20

Just as it did with Helio X20, Mediatek is about to release a faster than the base original of the P20 called the P25. 

Catching up in the high end

MediaTek has changed its strategy for the high end market to make more competitive chips. The company plans to launch its first USA products this year as it has the Cat 6. capable modems but with 10nm announcement it wants to get closer to the big names in phone SoCs including Qualcomm, Samsung and Apple. 

Intel not even there

While Chipzilla has admitted it can’t build a 10nm chip, Mediatek is planning to release two of them using TSMC’s process.
