Mac Pro is not-American

by on13 June 2023

It is a product of Thailand – Siamese if you please

While Apple claims its oversized and over-priced cheese grater is as American as Apple Pie, it is officially labelled that is made in Thailand.

MacRumors has spotted (and as confirmed by an FCC filing), the 2023 Mac Pro is labelled differently from the previous model.

In the past, the Fruity Cargo cargo has been reassuring jobs-obsessed nationalist politicians by pointing to the Texas facility where the top-end Mac is put together that it is really a US company.

The Mac Pro FCC label said that it was designed by Apple in California. Assembled in the USA.

However, the 2023 model states “designed by Apple in California. Product of Thailand. Final assembly in the USA.”

Apple is refusing to say why “Product of Thailand” has appeared; or that it needed to clarify that only “final” assembly takes place in the US.

Well, now we know. The 2023 Mac Pro is a product of Thailand and as American as Yul Brynner.
