Nvidia Blackwell GPU rumours

Expect the unexpected

The dark satanic rumour mill has manufactured a hell-on-earth yarn about Nvidia’s next-gen GeForce RTX 50 "Blackwell" GPUs.

Tipster Kopite7kimi suggests the Nvidia GeForce RTX 50 "Blackwell" B200 Gaming GPUs will start with the flagship GB202 and GB203. The GB202 is the full chip, while the GB203 is half of the GB202, just like the Ada AD103 is half of the full AD102 GPU. It's unclear whether Nvidia will use a chiplet or a monolithic design.

The GB100 will use a chiplet design for the HPC/AI family, but the gaming GPU is still a mystery.

Kopite7kimi says that the flagship GB202 "Blackwell" Gaming GPU will have a 512-bit memory interface, compared to the 384-bit memory interface on the flagship Ada GPU, the AD102. This is a huge deal for gamers, as it means more memory and faster performance. A 512-bit interface with 16 GB (2 GB) modules will lead to 32 GB of memory with 1792.00 GB/s of bandwidth.

It looks like 28Gbps GDDR7 memory modules will be the standard in the first gen products. Nvidia might offer some variants with slower or faster memory, depending on the model.

A 512-bit bus interface for GB202 means that the next ones will either use 384-bit or 256-bit memory and vice versa. This could mean that we see some GB202 variants with 512-bit memory and others with 384-bit memory to suit different budgets. The same could happen with GB203, which might get 384-bit and 256-bit variants.
