Activision has apparently learned that it was not worth all of the trouble to put those celebrities in Guitar Hero after all; because it has decided that there will be none in Guitar Hero 6. The decision comes after Courtney Love, Jon Bon Jovi, and No Doubt spoke out about the use of famous celebrities within the game itself.

While celebrities might want to do dialogue or voiceovers for Guitar Hero 6, the days of being able to play as your favorite artist are coming to an end. It is likely that you will see narration and still pictures of artists as the main way that they will be included within Guitar Hero 6. A band-specific Guitar Hero release would likely still include the ability to play those artists.

According to our sources, the main reason for the shift is that Activision wants to move away from the drama that the entire issue has brought to the brand. Going forward, it does appear that there will be some changes; the question is really if they will be enough to stem the complaints from the past.
