Worldwide release slated for June 8th

The Green Day Rock Band release has been given an official release date. MTV Game and developer Harmonix have confirmed that Green Day: Rock Band will arrive for release worldwide on June 8th. The game is a standalone title based on the popular Rock Band franchise and will arrive for the Xbox 360, PlayStation 3 and Wii.

The game itself will feature music from the band Green Day and follow the band’s story from their humble beginnings to the superstars that they are today. It will offer over 40 minutes of rare and unreleased video. In addition, the game will include a variety of outtakes, interviews and performances, including some epics for the game itself.

The game will include a total of 47 songs from across the all of the Green Day albums. Within these 47 tracks that have been selected for the game, all of the band’s most popular songs are included. The game will feature the popular three-part vocal harmony technology that Harmonix developed for The Beatles: Rock Band.

The game will arrive in a “game only” edition that is not packaged with the instruments that have been offered in previous Rock Band releases. The Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3 versions will retail for $59.99, while the Wii version will be priced at $49.99. A $69.99 Green Day: Rock Band Plus bundle will be offered for the Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3 that will include special packaging as well as the ability to export the 47 song tracks to the hard drive. In addition, the “Plus” version will contain the six already released Green Day downloadable tracks that have been previously available for Rock Band.
