Not this year at least
It looks like the only way that Verizon users are going
to get their paws on a new Apple iPhone is if they find one in a pub.
According to BroadPoint AmTech analyst Brian Marshall,
AT&T has extended its exclusive deal thanks to their bargaining with the
iPad. He said that AT&T had to do something dramatic to get
the iPad and so it negotiated a 50 per cent discount on iPad data plans with
Apple. For that pricing, AT&T was able to negotiate a six-month extension
on the iPhone exclusive.
Before this deal was hatched out, Verizon would have got
the iPhone in 2010. Now he says that a Verizon iPhone won't happen
until 2011. Still Apple is apparently leaving lots of the gadgets in
beer gardens and with the outfits wonderful security they are dead easy
to
jailbreak. The only problem is that Apple will call its tame police
computer crime squad who will search your home and lock you up for 20
years.
We suggest that Verizon users are better off with
something Androidish.
