Sony warns games developers
With Sony about to release a Nintendo like games
controller for the PS3, it has felt the need to warn developers not to rehash
their old Wii titles on their machine.
Speaking to
Gamasutra Sony's senior vice president of publisher relations, Rob
Dyer, told the publication that when it comes to motion gaming, some titles
don't work. Sony is working with developers to help them find the
right genres and types of games that would work with the PlayStation Move.
He said that Sony's challenge is to make sure that
developers are using the PSMove with the right games. “We're spending a lot of our time--going back to people
and going, 'Good idea. Bad idea. Good idea. Yeah, not so good idea,'" Dyer
said.
The last thing the company wants, Dyer said, is to see
the Move have only a handful of titles worth playing. If something didn't work
on the Wii, regardless of how viable the idea might be, it won't work with the
Move either.
Dyer said that developers who create rehashes of failed
Wii titles for the Move were wasting their time.
