26 operators sign up
More than twenty-six
operators are committed to the 4G standard, according to research released this
week by the Global Mobile Suppliers Association.
A competition has formed
over who will be the world's first LTE operator with ten network operators
ready to launch their networks by 2010, according to the report. These
include Verizon, MetroPCS; and CenturyTel.
TeliaSonera in Sweden and Norway
has signed on and NTT DoCoMo and KDDI are onboard in Japan. Rogers Wireless,
Telus, and Bell Canada have all agreed to have projects up and running by 2010.
Sixteen more telecommunications companies will launch their LTE 4G services
after 2010.
