Brazos goes Kate Moss thin
AMD plans to launch Brazos and Sabine mobile platforms in 2011, but it seems at least some Brazos SKUs will target an entirely new form factor.
In a media briefing carried by CNET Asia, AMD Marketing Director for
South Asia Tan See Ghee said that Brazos features a low power envelope
compared to Sabine. The 32nm Sabine features Llano APU and it will
target the ultrathin notebook segment. Brazos, however, seems to be
aimed at even smaller devices, so it could end up in tablets or other
thin and compact devices.
Prior to Brazos and Sabine, AMD will introduce Nile, a 45nm mobile
platform slated for launch sometime in 2010. Nile is also targeted at
the ultrathin segment and we can only hope it will do better than the
Neo.
