Over 10 million of flagship P9 and P9 Plus

Huawei has announced that it managed to ship over 10 million of its P9 and P9 Plus flagship smartphones, pushing its total shipments well over the expected 140 million target.

Huawei has been pushing hard to get its piece of the high-end smartphone market, including some new technologies like the Force Touch and rear dual camera, developed in cooperation with Leica. The company has invested a lot in the marketing of its P9 and P9 Plus flagship smartphone which has apparently paid off, leading to a shipped number of over 10 million of these smartphones.

Back in October, the company managed to ship over 100 million smartphones and has set the target at 140 million shipped smartphones for 2016. According to latest information coming from an unnamed VP, the company managed to reach that target, which is almost a 40 percent increase compared to the last year. Its flagship P9 series managed to get to nine million in November and the company expects to ship around 12 million by the time these get replaced by the next flagship, most likely sometime after MWC 2017 in February.

While it might not ship as many flagship smartphones as Samsung and Apple, Huawei is pushing hard to get its piece of this market and it will probably have a great next year with its own Kirin 970 SoC and the P10 flagship smartphone.
