MediaTek has another design win in the 5.5-inch format

MediaTek had some success in the 5.5-inch market with HTC and it looks like the partnership will continue with HTC One X10 which will launch soon with the Helio P10 under the bonnet.

The HTC One X10 will replace the year-old HTC One X9. Last year’s version included the Helio X10 CPU and it started shipping in January 2016. It is expected that the successor HTC One X10 will have the same 1920x1080 resolution on a 5.5-inch screen, and a Helio P10 SoC with eight Cortex A53 clocked at 2GHz.

At least four Cortex A53 on a performance cluster are optimised for speed and have a 2Ghz core clock. The other four should have 1.4Ghz. The new mainstream Helio includes the Mali T860 GPU clocked at 700 MHz too.

The phone ships with 3MB RAM and a 13-megapixel camera with OSI. We have no information about the front facing camera. Looking at the picture, there is a big chance that the fingerprint unlocking won’t be present on this inexpensive phone. Of course, since it targets China and some other markets, this is a dual-SIM capable phone that will sell for 2000 Yuan, an equivalent of 287.87 USD / 276.52 Euro.

MediaTek announced that Helio P20 is shipping in the Meizu M3X and it looks like HTC didn’t want to go for the latest and greatest mainstream solution from MediaTek. The HTC One X10 is expected to launch in January.
