by on05 August 2016

No pricing but comes with Leopard

Xiaomi VR Play is the official name for the VR from the Apple of China. The company aims to support 4.7 to 5.7 inch phones and comes with unique two way zip designed VR glasses.

After a long trail of rumors, Xiaomi has announced the Mi VR, and it promises an immersive VR experience, and a lightweight lycra, spandex like material, which is a unique approach to a VR headset so far.

The headset is definitely different with its two-way zipper, textured metal button that will make direct contact with your phone, transferring some of the commands. Xiaomi claims that the MI VR comes with anti-reflective lens with optical grade aspheric lens with high tolerance interval of 0.01mm. Anti-slip strips will keep the phone in one place.

Since it supports 4.7 inch to 5.7 inch phones, it will fit most of them, including the whole Xiaomi phone portfolio from the smallest to the biggest.

The most interesting thing is that since it targets primarily the Chinese market, it comes with a few design varieties. It comes in Denim, Floral, Night Sky, Leopard, Lotus and Camo design patterns.

The headrest will have support for several content partners including OamaVR, M, Youku, QIY, VR Hotcast and Conde Nast VR "innovation center".

The MI VR app will come with support for panoramic, 2D and 3D video libraries with weekly updates. Xiaomi is very clear, this is a China only product so far. Xiaomi is not ready to talk about the price, but since the Smasung Galaxy VR is $99 we can assume that Xiaomi will target a much lower price than that.
