Nexus 5 arrives September 29

by on04 September 2015

Comes with Snapdragon 808  and Android 6.0

LG's Nexus 5 will be in the shops on September 29 to celebrate the birthday of Android M (Marshmallow).

Well informed chaps from Cnet confirmed the date and that Marshmallow will be part of the Nexus 5 spec.

The phone has 5.2 inch Full HD 1920x1080 screen, Snapdragon 808 processor with Adreno 418 GPU, 3 GB or RAM as well as 16 or 32GB storage. There is a 12.3 megapixel rear camera and 5 megapixel front camera.

Like any Nexus phone, the new Nexus 5 doesn’t have a microSD storage slot but it will have a USB Type-C connector with USB 2.0 and 3.0 support to the Google Nexus line.

Most of the 2016 phones will get the USB Type-C and it is about time.

The new Nexus comes with a reasonable 2700 mAh battery. It has been reported that Huawei will come with another bigger Nexus around the same time. Leaked specs indicate a 5.7 inch WQHD AMOLED 2560x1440 display, a faster processor from the Snapdragon line, 21 megapixel rear camera, fingerprint reader and the battery with wireless charging.

Huawei’s Nexus will support USB Type-C port and provide global LTE support too.

Some reports suggest that the Huawei Nexus comes with the Snapdragon 820, but we doubt that this SoC is ready to ship this year. The Snapdragon 820 was planned for early 2016 release.

Going back to 5 inch is a smart move. The Nexus 6 was simply too big for most users. The LG with 5.2 reminds us of the LG G2 which was one of the best phones ever. It featured the same screen size and a huge 3000 mAh battery –, the largest of its time.

We will have to wait a few more weeks until Google releases them on September 29.
