Samsung loses more market share in China

by on30 April 2015

Drops to fourth spot first time since 2011

Samsung is having a tough time keeping up with aggressive competitors in mainland China, and now it has lost another spot in the rankings.

According to market research firm Strategy Analytics, Samsung is now the fourth biggest smartphone player in China. The leader remains Xiaomi, with 110 million units shipped in Q1 2015 and a 12.8% market share. Apple is in a close second, with a 12.3% share, while Huawei is in third with a 10.2% share.

Strategy Analytics did not say how many units Samsung shipped, but the firm did point out that it expects the Korean giant to claw back lost ground thanks to new Galaxy S6 series products, Reuters reports.

That’s not the only leader board change in the works, as the firm also expects Apple to overtake Xiaomi this year, due to strong demand for iPhone 6 series phones.
