CES 2008: On its 965 chipset

Intel will talk about its miraculous way to support DirectX 10 with its 965 chipset. Intel is beginning to realize that graphics are an important part.

To make it more interesting Intel’s 965 chipset platform won’t have the software to support DirectX 10, at least not at launch. The driver is scheduled for Q1 2008, if all goes well.

Once the driver is done, Intel will be able to claim DirectX 10 support and the chipset supports T&L, something that Nvidia has been able to do since 2000, and Shader model 3.0 support. It is interesting how Intel can claim DirectX 10 support, since we all know that you need Shader model 4 to get that certification.

We guess that if you are Intel and you really want something, they find a way to make it possible.  Here is one of the slides that Ottelini might show tomorrow at his keynote, which will be in some 25 hours from now.
