1920 x 1080 Full HD at 60 FPS

Casio has announced a new and innovative digital camera, the Exilim Pro EX-F1. Impressive burst and video modes are what sets this 6 megapixel 12X zoom camera apart from the competition.

It is capable of filming 1920 x 1080 Full HD at 60 FPS, and if this isn't fast enough for you, you can opt for one of these resolutions at even higher framerates: 512 × 384 (300 fps), 432 × 192 (600 fps), 336 × 96 (1200 fps). Just for comparison, the PAL video system in use in Europe works at 25 FPS (with fields), while the U.S. NTSC has 30 FPS. Basically, you can slow down the action at 512 × 384 ten times and get away with it.

The new camera also has a fast flash to go along with its burst modes. It is capable of blinding your buddies at 7 FPS for three seconds. Casio also chose to install a LED light for video, similar to what we see on mobile phones these days. This is a clever move and we hope that more camera makers will start installing LED lights on their cheap, compact cameras. The vast majority of such products already have pretty good video capabilities, but lack any sort of light source for continuous shooting in low light conditions, i.e., cafes, clubs, etc.

Here's a brief look at the specs: 1/1.8-inch high-speed CMOS Type CCD, 6 million pixels (effective), 12X zoom lens (36 to 432mm, F2.7 to 4.6). It can record stills in RAW and video in H.264. Shutter speed in manual mode ranges from 60 seconds to an amazing 1/40000 seconds. Its EVF is 0.2 inches in size and has 201,600 pixels, while the main screen measures 2.8 inches and a 959 × 240 resolution (approx. 230k pixels). It weighs 671g and measures 127.7 (W) x 79.6 (H) x 130.1 (D)mm.

The Exilim Pro EX-F1 should be available from March and its MSRP is $999.
