HP has launched the world's thinnest and lightest business notebook, the EliteBook Folio 1020.

The new Folio 1020 family uses a magnesium-lithium alloy and carbon fibre to save weight, resulting in a 1kg design measuring just 15.7mm at the waistline. The processor of choice is Intel's Core M, the company's first Broadwell 14nm part. The EliteBook 1020 will be available in two flavours, as a standard edition with an optional tuchscreen and a Special Edition.

The latter sports a 12.5-inch QHD display. Both feature a new keyboard design, which the marketing department dubbed HP Premium Keyboard. Although it's a business machine, the 1020 series sports front firing speakers, HD Audio with DTS Studio Sound and HP's noise reduction software. As far as business oriented features are concerned, the new series ships with HP Client Management Solutions, Trusted Platform Module 1.2/2.0, fingerprint reader and self-healing BIOS.

There's no word on pricing yet, but the standard edition should ship in February, while the QHD Special Edition is expected in April. Pricing will be revealed at a later date.
