Halo Collection for Xbox One has issues

by on13 November 2014

More than 50+ bugs reported so far

When Microsoft and 343 Studios announced Halo: The Master Chief Collection for Xbox One, we knew that it was a massive project to say the least. So here we are a couple of days after release and it is not really that surprising to find out that released end result has more than a few issues.

While we can say that some bugs were going to have to be expected when you try and bring four titles that are remastered for the Xbox One under one roof you had to expect problems, but out of the gate we have learned that over 50+ bugs/issues have been reported so far and they are across pretty much all of the titles.

That’s right there are bugs/issues that are not limited to just campaign or multiplayer, they are spread out all over the place. With over 50+ bugs/issues reported so far, it also comes as little surprise that someone in the community has already started tracking the bugs/issues. (We give you the link below so you can see it for yourself.)

In our opinion, it does not make the collection unplayable, actually far from it. It does however at time become kind of a pain, but it is if you realize the size of this project, issues had to be expected. Executive Produce Dan Ayoub from 343 Studios posted a note 15 hours after the release saying that they “feel your frustration and they are working day and night to find solutions as quickly as possible.” It is at least good to know that they have acknowledged the problems so quickly.

With issues from achievements not unlocking to slow frame rates, to server matchmaking issues, the developers will have their work cut out for them tackling the bug/issues. Already, a number of server-side fixes have been deployed to address problems, but some issues will not be resolved till another release that is targeted for this weekend is hopefully deployed.

Ayoub says that they are committed to fixing the issues which is good news, but once again we are faced with asking the question, “Was The Master Chief Collection pushed out too quickly to make sure that it was here for Black Friday which is one of the most important shopping days of the year, when it should have been held back for additional work prior to release?” Only team at 343 and perhaps Phil Spencer himself can answer this question, but we suppose that its release was perhaps necessary to track down all of the bugs/issues with a title that has a surface area as massive as this.

Still the launch issues have given the launch of the Master Chief Collection a bit of a “black eye” right out of the gate, but we don’t doubt that they will work hard to resolve the issues quickly, but it sure would have been nice given the lead that the PlayStation 4 has over the Xbox One and the recent struggles Sony has been having with Drive Club, if Microsoft and 343 would have paid a bit more attention and perhaps not rushed the Master Chief Collection to release so quickly.

Track the bugs and the issues in MCC here.
