Apple drags its feet fixing broken Mac Pros

You get what you pay for

There is simmering discontent amongst those who paid over the odds for a Mac Pro a couple of years back over a seeming reluctance from Apple to fix a design flaw.

Back in January, it was revealed how owners of 2011 15-inch and 17-inch MacBook Pro models were hacked off with failing graphics chips and system crashes. Apple assisted some customers to get logic board replacements, but some users have been faced with expensive repair bills to address the problem.

One angry user posted: “Everyone who bought a macbook pro spent a huge premium to buy macbook pro's and did not expect to have a manufacturing defect. This issue had made a $2500 investment a piece of junk in 2 years. We do not buy Apple products with this in mind.”

He moaned that Apple has not provided any signs of talks or steps from their side even though huge number of users are affected with this issue. In fact they are making money by given them logic board replacement solutions which is making the issue worse. In other words, Apple not only charges you over the odds for a computer, you are not getting what you pay for. If something goes wrong, Apple actually makes money from its own cock-up by insisting you pay for its mess.

There is a Facebook group exceeding 2,200 members and a change.org petition requesting a more substantial response from Apple having surpassed 18,000 signatures. A 600-page long thread on the Apple forums has attracted over 1.6 million page views and over 9000 comments.

Attorneys from Washington, DC-based Whitfield Bryson & Mason LLP have addressed the Facebook group, launching a survey to gather information from affected MacBook Pro owners as the firm considers a possible class action lawsuit.
