As Microsoft promised those that opted not to purchase the Xbox One with Kinect would have the option to purchase it separately. The now sold separately Kinect has started to show up on retailer shelves.

The standalone Kinect comes bundled with Dance Central Spotlight which is currently the best Kinect for Xbox One title out there. While the Kinect integration is useful for calling audible in Madden or asking the Xbox One to “Record That” as the games and dashboard has evolved to supporting those who don’t have a Kinect, there is no doubt that it has become less important than Microsoft might have hoped.

Still the standalone Kinect bundle which includes the Kinect for Xbox One, all the connecting cables, and a digital download code for Dance Central Spotlight is being sold for $149.99. With a $150 price tag we thing it is far from an impulse buy and Microsoft might have more luck selling them at $100, but we suspect that this is a cost and profit thing and when you add-in the cost for Dance Central Spotlight, it makes a $100 price tag impossible.
