Unity running the same on both X1 & PS4

by on07 October 2014

900p/30fps locked for both to avoid drama

Ubisoft is looking to avoid the drama of which version of Assassin’s Creed Unity runs and looks better on which console. Both the Xbox One and PlayStation 4 version will run at 900p at 30fps with no difference between the two versions.

The decision to lock the resolution and frames per second come from a desire to avoid all of the drama and debate so can just focus on the game itself, not which version performs or looks better. Apparently the developers say that they are CPU bound not GPU bound with Unity.

The move isn’t really that surprising as Assassin’s Creed 4: Black Flag was also shipped locked at 900p/30fps, so this really isn’t a surprise. (Ubisoft did later release a patch that bumped the resolution up to 1080p, but there is no indication that such a post-release patch might be in the works for Unity as well.)

Unity is set for release on Xbox One, PlayStation 4, and PC on November 11th in North America, followed by release in Europe on November 14th.
