Emma Watson attack was a PR stunt

by on24 September 2014

Either that or 4Chan could not deliver

The website set up threatening to publish naked photographs of actress Emma Watson was a PR stunt by someone wanting to er publish naked pictures of film stars.

Earlier this week someone on 4Chan threatened to publish pictures of Watson for daring to say that feminists should not be seen as an enemy to men. A site was set up called emmayouarenext.com with a countdown to when it would print naked pictures of Watson. The countdown has ended and the site now redirects to rantic.com, a self-proclaimed "social media marketing enterprise".

A page appears calling to #ShutDown4Chan before a slideshow outlines the campaign's supposed goals following the recent leaking of nude images of female celebrities.

"Spread the word," the sideshow states. "Join us as we shutdown 4chan and prevent more private pictures from being leaked. None of these women deserve this and together we can make a change."

An open letter calling for censorship bizarrely addressed to US President Barack Obama is also included in the website, where the company claims to have been "hired by celebrity publicists.”

It is all fairly stupid and smells like another 4Chan style scam, probably to cover the fact that it could not deliver on any real pictures.
