360 Horizon 2 scaled down

by on11 September 2014

A bit less than the Xbox One version

As suspected the Xbox 360 version of Forza Horizon 2 which uses the previous Forza Horizon engine on the Xbox 360 will be a bit scaled down from what we will see on the Xbox One version of the same game. Only now we are finding out the actual differences between the two.

The Xbox 360 version of Forza Horizon 2 will run at 720p/30fps and it will not have the Drivatars, weather effects, includes fewer cars, and a smaller open world than the Xbox One version. By way of comparison while both the Xbox One and Xbox 360 version will be set in the same Southern European local, the world on the Xbox One is three times bigger than the Xbox 360 version. The world in Forza Horizon 2 is still much bigger and said to be twice the size of the original Forza Horizon on the 360.

As the number of cars, while Microsoft promises 200 cars will still be available at launch, we suspect that the 360 version will have fewer cars and that a good number of them will be exclusive to the Xbox One version. The 360 version will still have “Barn Find Cars” that players can discover while playing the game.

Still it does look like the 360 version tops what was done with the original Forza Horizon so fans will likely enjoy what has been done for the Xbox 360 version. Forza Horizon 2 will launch on both the Xbox One and Xbox 360 on September 30th. The Xbox One will be offering a limited Day One Edition, but as far as we can tell there is no limited edition or special edition version this time around for the Xbox 360.
