Microsoft confirms Halo 5: Guardians

by on19 May 2014

For Xbox One late in 2015

Looking to get the word out ahead of E3 to fend off the questions of when the next Halo is coming to the Xbox One, Microsoft and 343 Industries have confirmed Halo 5: Guardians. Guardians built upon a brand new engine will expand upon the Halo universe.

With the announcement of Guardians not out of the bad, it begs the question of when we will need this new chapter in the Halo franchise? Well that is actually pretty predictable with an estimated fall of 2015 release date.

While the actual announcement posted on Halo’s Waypoint application didn’t go into much detail, we do know that 60 fps visuals and dedicated servers are among the expected upgrades in the next Halo experience. While they are not yet confirmed as part of the new game for sure, they are features that 343 would apparently like to deliver.

Rumors are suggesting that the decision to talk about Halo 5 now, may have been made because another Halo related announcement is expected. Sources are telling us of a Halo Collection that could be coming as a Halo experience to the Xbox One. Originally, it was rumored that Halo 2 was being retooled for release on the Xbox One in the same way that the original Halo was overhauled and released for the Xbox 360 as Halo: Combat Evolved Anniversary. It could be that it is just more than that for the Xbox One. We will have to wait and see if this turns out to be true, but if it is, then it could be a big deal for Halo fans who happen to own the Xbox One.
