Iron Galaxy takes over Killer Instinct

by on31 March 2014

Amazon’s Double Helix replaced

It has been revealed that Iron Galaxy will take over the continued development and maintenance of Killer Instinct on the Xbox One for Microsoft going forward. This move replaces Double Helix who was responsible for the development of the reboot of the series on the Xbox One prior to being acquired by Amazon.

Iron Galaxy was best known for creating Drivekick prior to being named as the new Killer Insinct developer. The developers at Iron Galaxy were super passionate about fighting games and are excited about showing people what they are going to be doing with the game down the road.

The delayed March update is now slated to arrive on April 9th. It will add the final character which is Fulgore as well a store mode and the addition of spectator lobbies for online multiplayer. Additional updates are planned with even more content for this free-to-play title on the Xbox One. Microsoft so far has not commented on how successful the free-to-play model has worked with Killer Instinct on the Xbox One, but we suspect that they would not be in favor of additional development on the title if it was not generating revenue.
