HP enters Chromebox space

by on07 February 2014

Core i7 inside?

Hewlett Packard is entering the emerging Chromebook market with a few colourful boxes, but there is still no word on price or specs.

It appears that HP’s Chromebox is powered by Haswell Core i7 parts, but that sounds like overkill. It is possible that the top SKU features a Core i7, while cheaper models will end up with low-end chips, much like the $179 Asus Chromebox.

HP’s focus appears to be on office users and it should be available this spring. It has dual-display support, a flexible VESA mount, HDMI and DisplayPort along with four USB 3.0 ports. No word on storage or RAM for the time being.
