EA to trial Origin Mac client

by on28 January 2013

Only an initial Alpha test, apparently

It has been rumored for some time now that Electronic Arts has been working on a Mac version of their Origin client to allow the company to extend their digital distribution platform into the Mac world. The company is now apparently accepting Alpha testers, which will be limited to a few thousand or so, to test the early Alpha version of the Origin client for Mac.

From what we have been able to find out, the Mac version of the client will behave and look pretty much like the PC version of the Origin client. Mac users will need to be running Mac OS X 10.6.8 or higher with an Intel-powered Mac using at least a Intel Core 2 Duo processor or better to download and install the client. It is unlikely that these requirements will change when Origin for Mac is finally released, according to our sources.

If you get access to the Alpha test, EA is going to toss in a free copy of the PopCap puzzle game Bookworm for you as a thank you.
