2K Sports likely new home for WWE License

Written by David Stellmack

Will not be going to EA Sports despite rumors

We had been hearing from a number of sources who were claiming that similar to the UFC license that EA Sports had acquired from THQ, the company was said to also have cut a deal to get the WWE wrestling license.

In an interesting turn of events, we are now hearing that Take-Two Interactive through its 2K Sports band will instead be acquiring the WWE License from THQ. This follows a denial from EA Sports that they had plans to get into producing WWE licensed games.

According to the WWE Games Twitter feed, exciting news is coming about the WWE video game license, but they don’t have any details to share yet. The Twitter feed also does not indicate when we might expect the news to be announced, either, so we are in a holding pattern till the official confirmation comes; but when it does, we expect that 2K Sports will be the new home for WWE.
