PS3 to get latest Skyrim DLC & 1.8 Update

by on21 January 2013

DLC to be 50% off during launch week

PlayStation 3 Skyrim players who have been patiently awaiting the Skyrim’s three DLC packs will have to wait no more. After an eight month wait since the DLC packs arrived for the Xbox 360, the DLC content will finally be made available to PlayStation 3 players.

While there are a number of theories as to why PS3 Skyrim players had to wait eight months to finally get access to this DLC content, the company line from Bethesda is that it faced “complex” issues while trying to port the DLC over to the PlayStation 3. Originally, Bethesda was not sure it was a problem that they could solve; but nonetheless, they worked with Sony to get the content to release. Many believe that the problems are related to the lag issue that was seen in the initial release of Skyrim that was later fixed in a patch.

Dragonborn, Heathfire, and Dawnguard will all go on sale for 50 per cent off during its initial release week on the PlayStation 3. In addition, the plan is to release the 1.8 update to the PlayStation 3 version of Skyrim just before the release of the Dragonborn DLC. It is unknown yet what issues the 1.8 update will address, but according to sources, it addresses a number of issues on the PlayStation 3 version and provides a number of improvements.
