Blizzard to cash in with upcoming offering

Blizzard Entertainment has crossed the eleven million subscriber mark worldwide for World of Warcraft, which was initially released in 2004 and has been going strong even since.

When the MMORPG subscription model was announced with the release of the original World of Warcraft, many were unsure of how well it would do. Now we know that the game that has been translated into 8 different languages has become only what can be described as a massive success, and has spawned the Burning Crusade expansion since the initial release of the title.

The latest expansion, which is called Wrath of the Lich King, is nearing launch and has finished the latest round of beta testing. The Wrath of the Lich King is slated for release on November 13th and it is expected to create a surge in subscribers, drawing players back into World of Warcraft once again.

Blizzard has not yet said if this will be the last expansion to the game, but with the amount of people that continue to subscribe and play the title it is expected that they are already planning an additional add-on that should be announced at some point after The Wrath of the Lich King has shipped. Sources are indicating that Blizzard will talk more about the future of Warcraft around the E3 time frame next year.
