Overclocks to 4.7GHz

Some benchmarks of Intel's upcoming Core 2 Duo E8500 with a clock speed of 3.16GHz have apperad on a few forums posted by someone that goes by the name of windwithme. The person in question has tested the upcoming CPU with some Corsair DDR3-1800MHz memory and a GeForce 8800 GT card on an Asus P5K3-Deluxe motherboard.

He (we presume it's a he, anyway) managed to hit 4.7GHz on a 495MHz bus, which isn't bad for a brand new CPU. The memory was running at 1980MHz at this stage and the system finished SuperPI 1M in 9.89 seconds.

It appears that the system wasn't stable enough for 3DMark at this speed, but at 4.4GHz he manged to get a clean run, which scored 12,806 points in 3DMark06; but that was with the graphics card overclocked to 600/1800MHz for core and memory.
